Chairman of OA Sport climbs Mount Kilimanjaro for charity
Andy Mills-Baker (OA 1968), Chairman of OA Sport at Woollams, has successfully completed a charity fundraising challenge by reaching the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, which at 5895m is the world's highest free standing mountain. He was a member of a 14 strong team organised by the New Victoria Medical Foundation who have raised well over £100,000 for medical research and support. Andy left St Albans School in 1968, and has twice been President of the Old Albanian Club and was Chairman of the development team that built the OA's state of the art Woollams Sports Ground that opened in 2002
Andy, who will be celebrating his 60th birthday next month, commented that the 5 day trek to the summit was the most gruelling and demanding physical challenge that he has ever undertaken and that he only succeeded with the support of nearly 150 people and organisations, largely from the St Albans district, who donated in excess of £12,500 for cancer and diabetes research. He paid particular thanks to the support of Mike Pattison OA and International Labmate whose t-shirt he wore at the summit.
Donations can still be made at his just giving web page: http://www.justgiving.com/Andrew-Mills-Baker49/
